New York to Washington DC

This was packing day, again.  We were packed and ready to go soon after 9am, and today we took a bus to the subway station, rather than walking 20-30 minutes with all our bags.  Much easier, except the bus did get full, and at one stage a wee domestic almost started between one lady who asked everyone to move down to the back of the bus and another lady who said there wasn't room and if the 1st lady wanted to go to the back then she should go to the back herself.  The 1st lady responded "Always a black person.  There's always a black person."
Our apartment - 1st floor, in between the laundry and the deli

Anyway, after 1 bus and 3 trains, we arrived at the bus pick up point - no building for us, oh no, not like at the Port Authority.  Our bus waited on the side of the road, and it was freezing!!  The bus company has people who load the buses - what terrible working conditions they have!  Even though it was sunny, it was cold.  Just before 12noon, we boarded and off we went, on the interstate to the nations capital.  From being absolutely frozen, we then cooked on the bus!  It was so hot!  Mum said I was obviously going through that time of life, but even she agreed it was hot!

Luckily our accommodation in DC is only a 5-10 minute walk from the station, so it was relatively easy to get here.  And, wow!  What a place!  The apartment complex is only 3yrs old, and on the ground floor, there is a lounge area with a fireplace, a cooking space, a games area with 3 TVs, a pool table, fuze ball, ,..., a business space and  a gymnasium.  The 7th floor has a BBQ area and pool (only open in the season, and yes, it does have life guards), and on the 10th floor is a rooftop deck with fire pits and 360 degree views - we are so going up there!  We have 2 bedrooms, and it is all very nice!

Eric and I went grocery shopping (pasta with maple meat patties for dinner, followed by chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream as a treat).  Washing is in, the boys are on their computers and us adults are watching TV, a miniseries about the killing of Versace.

As an addendum - remember the load of washing we dropped off in NY (day 2)?  Well, I put on my long sleeved thermal top this morning - it was a crop top with short sleeves!!!  Not really of much use to me anymore, so it got left behind in NY.
