Disneyland and Photos

So, again, more smiles, cleanliness, very helpful staff (crew members) - Eric twice was asked if he needed assistance finding somewhere as he sat looking at the map in our down-time moments.

We talked to a lady who was working with the horses in the Ranch - Walt wanted horses at all sites, so there are.  She was saying there are about 60,000 visitors a day to DL, and about 25,000 crew (10 out back for every 1 we see in public).  Most crew only work part-time (you have to be a long-serving employee to work full-time) and many crew don't need to be working there, but do it because they are happy to.  She said they have many retirees, students, even millionaires working there.  They get benefits, e.g. if you walk or bike to work, you get extra money.

But, that's not what you want to read.  You want to find out what we did and what we saw.

At Disneyland, we did 24 of 51 listed attractions, including Space Mountain (Karl decided not to join us on that one), Star Tours (there are about 56 different combinations of scenes from the Star Wars movies to fly through - we only flew through 1, but a guy talked to me afterwards who was very excited as he has done 50 of them - although he was disappointed as when he looked at his phone, he's actually done the one we did).  We did Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and we did Matterhorn Bobsleds in the evening, before we saw some original Mickey Mouse movies (including Steamboat Willie) and "Great Moments with Mr Lincoln".  The final thing we saw at DL was the fireworks spectacular.  It was cool!  Sound, lights, fireworks all worked together.

The other thing that impressed both Eric & I was the meticulousness of the sets and detail that has gone into the surroundings - there are even trees shaped like stacks of wheels in Cars Land.

So, the excitement of Disneyland and Anaheim is now behind us and we're moving on to part 2 of our journey, as Karl said to us.

  2. What did Karl do while you guys were doing the rides? Sounds like lots of fun and lots better than the theme parks in Aust.
