A very long travelling day to Boston

Whew!  It is 7:30pm on Sunday night here in Boston, and we have finished our very long day of travelling.  Of course, coming straight after a full day at Universal Studios probably didn't help.

We left LA at 11pm, flew for 4 hours to Detroit, with time changes thrown in; had a 3 hour wait there (very dull and dreary outside there), followed by a 2 hr flight to Boston.  Arrived about 11:30am, found what we thought was the bus we needed, but realised we needed an alternative bus first, so back tracked to the airport and started our land travel again.  Made it!  Just.  Robin kept having to be woken up for each train change!

Travelled on the metro trains, which happen to be the oldest subway tunnels in the USA, and ended up at our accommodation just a short walk with our luggage from Roxbury Crossing.  Well, after our last accommodation fiasco, it would have been too easy for things to go smoothly today.  So, no such luck.  After waiting for over an hour, and with Eric trying to phone and email the accommodation provider, we finally got it sorted: apparently our booked room had had a flood (not the same story that the Spanish-speaking cleaner conveyed to Eric - she said the room we were informed of had been rented for some time by other people) so we were booked into an alternative place.  Luckily, a maintenance guy was there to sort us out - he drove Pita and our big bags to the new place, while Eric, the boys and I walked (about 7-8 mins).  Good thing is, we have 2 double beds plus a sofa bed, more than 5 towels, and it is warm and almost everything we need (we are boiling water in a pot for hot drinks; we can't find a plug for the kitchen sink; there is no dishwashing liquid or a tea towel).

Eric and I hopped back onto the metro to go to a Trader Joe's to pick up more supplies for breakfasts, lunches and we heated pizzas for dinner tonight.

Showers all round, washing in, and bed!
